What We Do
Simple, convenient skate sharpening — without the extra trip to the pro shop.

The Neighborhood Edge is a local porch drop-off skate sharpening service based in Central Park, designed to make getting your skates sharpened easy, convenient, and reliable for busy hockey families and players.
How It Works
1. Place Your Order Online
Complete the order form on our website with your skate information, preferred hollow, and contact details. Payment is completed at checkout via Venmo or credit card.

2. Receive Your Drop-Off Instructions
Once your order is submitted, you’ll receive a confirmation email with:
-
Your assigned locker number
-
The keybox code for secure drop-off
-
Simple drop-off instructions
Drop your skates off whenever it works for your schedule. No worrying about pro shop hours or making a special trip during limited windows.

3. Precision Sharpening
Your skates are sharpened to your requested hollow using a Sparx skate sharpener—the same sharpening technology trusted by many hockey players and used by major hockey retailers, including stores like Pure Hockey and MonkeySports for routine skate sharpening.
This provides:
-
Consistent, repeatable results

Reliable edge quality
-
The same hollow every time
Not sure what hollow you use? No problem—we can help recommend one.

4. Pickup When Ready

About
As a retired Division III hockey player turned beer leaguer, I know firsthand how important sharp skates are and how frustrating it can be to get them sharpened.

After getting tired of driving across town to pro shops with limited or inconsistent hours, I started The Neighborhood Edge to make skate sharpening easier for local hockey players and families in Central Park.

If you’re a hockey parent, you already have enough on your plate between practices, games, and tournament weekends. My goal is simple: make one thing easier. No extra trip to the pro shop, no wondering if they’re open, and no scrambling before puck drop because skates still need sharpening.

Whether you’re getting ready for a youth hockey weekend, high-level competition, or just another late-night beer league game, I want to make sure your skates are dialed in and game ready.
